Holly of “Belle Of The Library” reviews Thrall.
Holly says:
“As is mentioned, the line between good and evil is really blurry, which is kind of exactly what it needs to be. Because really, what’s worse than an evil villain? Answer: an evil villain who truly believes he/she is in the right and doing the right thing. This book was loaded with characters who were forced to question whether or not what they were doing was right. Very multidimensional. Loved that.”

Holly’s rating: 5/5 roses
REVIEW: Jenny Pacia of “A Bibliophile’s Diary” reviews Thrall.
Jenny says:
“I can’ t say anything negative about this book because it was so good. All in all the book was wonderful… I enjoyed reading it so much even I went back to reread a few scenes. I would definitely wait for the next sequel of this. :)”
Jenny’s rating: 5/5
REVIEW: Kate Policani of “Compulsively Writing Reviews” reviews Thrall.
Kate says:
“This book was everything I look for in an entertaining novel… the plot flowed effortlessly, and even the unbelievable worked. This was a definite page-turner for me! Jennifer has written a truly engaging book.”
REVIEW: Tahlia Newland reviews Thrall for “Awesome Indies.”
Tahlia says:
“What I really liked was that, unlike many young adult books, good and evil were not clear cut. There were good and bad on both sides, and sometimes good people did bad things for what seemed like good reasons. Life is like that. Through these events, Braedyn comes to question the assumptions of people around her, and learns that she must ultimately rely on her own judgement.”
COVER REVEAL: Book Whales YA Book Reviews unveils the cover of Thrall.
“Eye Candy Cover” – I love it! 🙂
I’ll say this for indie authors: they can be a generous and supportive group. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of them (virtually more than face-to-face) over the last few weeks and I love hearing about their stories and successes. I especially love how this community exists all over the country and the world.
I recently met Caron Rider, a novelist in rural Missouri through a board on GoodReads. Caron’s a history teacher with two kids, dogs, cats, turtles, and chickens (so jealous!).
Here’s the blurb for her YA novel “Silver Knight”: When seventeen-year-old Diana recognizes an elderly priest in a video on YouTube, she realizes reincarnation is real and she’s been alive before. Every night in her dreams, she views her past lives learning that it’s kill or be killed. Now a bishop at the Vatican whom she saved in another life calls on her once more. She is needed to help defeat an infestation of demons living within the catacombs of Rome. But when she arrives, she meets Alexander – the man of her dreams! Through the centuries she has loved him…betrayed him…and been killed by him. Will she give him another chance or this time will she strike first? “Silver Knight” takes you on an adventure where demons and heroes from the past blend with history, action, and just a hint of romance.
Sounds like a lot of fun – I’m looking forward to reading!
As I’ve been meeting authors, I’ve also gotten really interested in how authors create book trailers for their novels, something I hope to dive into on this blog in the coming weeks – as I work on my own book trailer.
In that vein, here’s the trailer for Caron’s book “Silver Knight”:

I think it was 2003 or 2004 when I saw my first episode of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” (Yes – I know – I came late to the party. Let’s blame it on my being in school and being busy studying, hanging out, and neck deep in all things theater. My geekery comes in all sorts of flavors.)
I was working at a DVD authoring house and my job was ensuring that the video and audio streams were as pristine as we could make them with the available technology. But basically my job was to watch stuff. So one day, we get Buffy Season 4 in and I go into my little room to watch it, not knowing anything about the series. There were four episodes on the disc, and “New Moon Rising” (written by the insanely talented Marti Noxon) was the last one.
I have never been so stunningly, immediately, powerfully rocked by a TV show before. I remember sitting in the darkness of the room with the menu music looping for about twenty minutes, praying no one would come in because it would be a little embarrassing to be discovered blubbering on the job.
I’ve always enjoyed TV, but that moment crystalized my understanding of the incredible potential television has when it’s done well.
In a lot of ways, a good season of TV is like a novel. You get to grow and change with the characters in a much richer and deeper way than you’d ever be able to do in a feature film (the short story of the motion picture world).
Some of my favorite seasons include Firelfy, Buffy seasons 2, 3, and 6, Battlestar Galactaca seasons 1 and 2, Twin Peaks season 1, West Wing season 1, Avatar: The Last Airbender seasons 1, 2, and 3.
What are some of your favorite seasons of TV?
